The venue for the Oxfam Open is the Cardiff Academy of Fencing. This fencing-specific venue is just south of the city centre on Cardiff ay and can be accessed easily from the M4. For those travelling by dar: the venue is to the nortern end of Ocean Way and is on the easten side. Once on Ocean Way please follow signs for the "National Tennis Centre" or "Café central".
The sports centre is about a 25 minute walk from Cardiff Central Train Station, so if you are arriving by train we suggest you either get a bus (£3.40 return) or a taxi (around £5 each way). If you get a bus, we suggest either the number 1 or number 2 services, noth of which leave from either Penarth Road (just behind the train station) or Cardiff Central Library; you should alight on Ocean Way, just after the the St John's base. From here, continue briefly up Ocean Way until you reach the venue (shared with CCYC and Tennis Wales). For more information about Cardiff Buses, please visit cardiffbus.com.
If getting a taxi, it is best to ask to go to near Beignon Way, off Ocean Way. If you need to book a taxi, we suggest Dragon Taxis who can be phoned on 02920 333 333.
The venue will be open from 9 AM each day; this is an hour before the first sign-in closes each day and so should allow everyone to warm up and get ready for the day.
The sports centre has the usual range of vending machines offering snacks along with hot drinks, water and sports drinks, along with an on-site café.
